Yesterday August 4, 2012 my group Los Mojitos performed for a wedding ceremony and cocktail reception at the beautiful Hacienda Pinilla Resort near Tamarindo in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
It’s a lovely venue for a destination wedding, set in the huge grounds right beside the Pacific Ocean on Costa Rica’s north west coast.
This wedding was for around 80-100 guests from The United States. We played as a trio of piano, guitar & bass. There were eight bridesmaids and we played the classical piece Pachelbel’s Canon in D as they entered. Then spectacularly, the bride arrived by horse and carriage! The bride had a friend who sang a song that she had written for the occasion and the band accompanied her. It was really a beautiful ceremony and despite it being rainy season in Costa Rica (from May to November inclusive) we had a gorgeous sunny day!
Then after the ceremony we played a mix of jazz, swing, latin, bossa nova and reggae tunes during the cocktail hour. After that my DJ friend took over for the dance reception.
The wedding was well organized by Ana Robledo who is the wedding & events coordinator at Hacienda Pinilla. Her email is
